Where to see Wildlife

Here is a list of great places to see birds and wildlife in South Texas:

The #1 on place is of course in your own backyard! You have sit very still, try to be camouflaged, and be very quiet. Leave food and water out overnight for a good chance to see a raccoon or possum or maybe a packrat! Don't try to pet them. You could get hurt plus they won't fee safe and may not come back to your yard if you approach them.

Hugh Ramsey Nature Park is my favorite places to see wildlife in Harlingen.  I have seen javalina, bobcats, snakes, and the best birds ever!  Click here for information and directions:

Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge is probably the best places to see wildlife in all of Cameron County.  They have beautiful birding stations, a Tram ride, Kayaking, and even a Junior Ranger program.  Click here for information and directions:

Harlingen City Lake is a great place to jog or walk but it's also a great place to see Parrots and Parakeets.  They have been known to fly in right about sundown.   Click here for information and directions:

The World Birding Center at South Padre Island is a real treat for birders and fans of alligators.  Yes alligators!  Click here for information and directions:
